At Avanti Tutoring, we prioritize the safety, happiness, and empowerment of children under our care, defining anyone under the age of 18 as a child. Our dedication to creating a secure and nurturing environment is unwavering, and we support and respect all children, tutors, and staff within our organization.
Our Zero Tolerance Policy:
Avanti Tutoring strictly adheres to a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse, treating all allegations and safety concerns with the utmost seriousness. We follow robust policies and procedures to ensure consistent handling of such issues.
Mandatory Reporting:
As a mandatory reporting organization, Avanti Tutoring fulfills our legal and moral obligations to report any concerns about a child's safety to the authorities, ensuring that all potential breaches of our child safety policy are addressed with the highest level of priority.
Prevention and Early Identification:
Our proactive approach to preventing child abuse involves early identification and mitigation of risks. Avanti Tutoring is committed to safeguarding children from physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect.
Selective Recruitment and Comprehensive Training:
Our tutors are selected through a stringent hiring process that includes face-to-face interviews, ID verification, and mandatory Working with Children Checks (WWCC). They receive comprehensive training on our child safety policy, including ongoing education on the risks of child abuse.
Safe Learning Environment:
Avanti Tutoring ensures a safe learning environment by requiring lessons to occur in common areas under parental or guardian supervision. Our online tutoring sessions are conducted on a secure platform to protect against third-party platform vulnerabilities.
Inclusivity and Empowerment:
We foster an inclusive environment that supports and empowers children from all backgrounds, including those from minority groups and with disabilities. Avanti Tutoring involves children in decisions affecting them and promotes a culture of diversity and tolerance.
Mandatory Rules for Staff and Tutors:
All staff, tutors, volunteers, and directors of Avanti Tutoring are required to observe child-safe principles and expectations for appropriate behavior towards and in the company of children, as outlined below:
Commit wholeheartedly to the principles and practices outlined in Avanti Tutoring’s child safety guidelines.
Vigilantly work to shield all children from harm and mistreatment.
Display unwavering respect toward all individuals within the Avanti Tutoring community.
Pay close attention and act upon any concerns raised by children regarding their well-being or instances of maltreatment.
Actively ensure an environment that respects and celebrates the cultural identities of Aboriginal children and those from diverse backgrounds, maintaining a stance of absolute non-discrimination.
Advocate for and support the active involvement and safety of children facing disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary accommodations and respect.
Tutors are to conduct sessions in supervised, open spaces, avoiding private or secluded settings with any student.
Obligation to report suspicions or evidence of child maltreatment directly to Avanti Tutoring’s designated Child Safety Officers and, if necessary, to appropriate external authorities.
Promptly address and escalate any child safety alerts to the designated Child Safety Officers within Avanti Tutoring.
In situations of reported abuse, take immediate steps to secure the safety and well-being of the involved child(ren).
Empower children to voice their opinions and engage in decisions that affect their educational experiences, ensuring they feel heard and valued.
Create a supportive atmosphere that encourages children to share their experiences and concerns without fear of judgment or reprisal.
Maintain professional boundaries in all communications and interactions with students, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
Strictly prohibit any form of favoritism, ensuring equitable treatment and opportunities for all students.
Foster an inclusive, supportive community that enables all children to thrive and express themselves freely.
Prohibited Behaviors include:
Developing 'special' relationships that could be seen as favoritism.
Engaging in any form of physical contact.
Conducting sessions out of the line of sight of a parent/guardian or in closed-off rooms.
Putting children at risk of abuse.
Engaging in open discussions of a mature or adult nature in the presence of children.
Discriminating against or disregarding any child.
